TORONTO INTERNATIONAL MODEL UNITED NATIONS
Toronto International Model United Nations (TIMUN) is a newly founded organization that hosts an annual university-level Model United Nations simulation. Created by University of Toronto students in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, TIMUN brings the world of Model United Nations to the online medium by partnering with bright and innovative companies such as Gatherly. As the world becomes increasingly connected through the internet, TIMUN seeks to capture this momentum by hosting North America’s premier online university-level MUN conference at a fraction of the cost of a typical conference. TIMUN also recognizes that a myriad of high school graduates had their final conferences cancelled due to COVID-19, and as a result, will also be allowing incoming first-year university students to register for TIMUN 2020 as a delegate.
Providing a platform for curious first-time delegates and avid gavel-hunters alike, TIMUN is set to create an unprecedented online experience for its first conference.
What is mun?
Model United Nations, also known as MUN, is an unparalleled educational experience that millions of students across the world participate in every year. As a simulation of the United Nations, MUN conferences embrace the intersection between diplomacy and debate with delegates demonstrating their expertise in unique committees that range from real organizations such as UNICEF to crisis committees that change the course of history. Over countless hours of discussion, delegates come together to propose real solutions and work towards passing resolutions. Filled with a community of students passionate about international and regional conflicts, Model United Nations gives a voice to all that choose to speak.
